Creation for the Norwegian National Ballet
First performance: April 10, 2005
Costume design: Rachel Quarmby-Spadaccini
Light design: Kristin Bredal
Music: David Lang, Maurice Ravel
FROM THE PRESS:
Succes for nordic choreographers.
"It is liberating to know that the Nordic countries have choreographers who are as talented, able and innovative as Jorma Elo, from Finland, Pontus Lidberg, from Sweden, Ingun Bjørnsgaard, from Norway and Tim Rushton, from Denmark. Their production for The Norwegian National Ballet at Scene 2 at Det norske teatret is a very good example of this. On 27 April, four brand new ballets premiered there. Pontus Lidberg’s interpretation of A midsummer night’s dream, Light in a night’s coat, was to my mind the most spectacular performance, involving a kind of indefinable plot, inspired by Shakespeare’s A midsummer night’s dream, but nevertheless free of Shakespeare, performed in incredibly beautiful and appropriate costumes."
